If God plainly announced the fact that he gave us the power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18), then we should take the time to learn about that power. I’d like to enumerate for you several reasons why I know God wants you to be wealthy.

1. God wants you to be wealthy so you can return His tithe (Leviticus 27:30–32; Malachi 3:8–11).

God gives everyone ten percent more than they deserve. As a test, he commanded us to return that ten percent to him by bringing it to his storehouse (the church treasury). When we pass the test, we are ready for the next stage in our journey on the road to radical wealth.

2. God wants you wealthy so you can send missionaries to others who have not heard the Gospel.

Romans 10:15
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Think of it. If none of God’s people had any money, how could we send missionaries and preachers to other lands to share the gospel? If God’s will was for His people to always be barely scraping along, there would be nobody to finance His evangelistic causes.

3. God wants you to be wealthy in order to establish His covenant.

Deuteronomy 8:18
But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

It takes money to print Bibles and good gospel literature. It takes money to establish God’s wonderful covenant over television and in Bible training centers throughout the world. God gives us the power to get wealth for a very specific, concrete purpose: to establish His covenant. If we refuse to use this power God has graciously given us, our enemies will triumph and, as a result, millions will perish in their sins, never knowing about God’s merciful agreement to save them through faith in Jesus Christ.

4. God wants you to be wealthy so you can provide for your loved ones.

1 Timothy 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

The Lord, through the Apostle Paul, makes some fairly serious statements here. He says that if you don’t take care of your family properly, you are worse than an infidel [unbeliever, sinner, wicked person]. Your family needs food, shelter, transportation, insurance, and other necessities. Your children need an education. If you don’t develop the power to get wealth, you are cheating your family.

5. God wants you to have wealth so the church can pay its spiritual leaders a good salary.

1 Timothy 5:17, 18, 25
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

Luke 10:7
And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

6. God wants you to be wealthy so you can pay your taxes and other obligations.

Matthew 22:21b
… Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.

Romans 13:6
For this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

7. God wants you to be wealthy so you can give good gifts to your children.

Matthew 7:11
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

8. God wants you to be wealthy so you can easily help the poor.

Proverbs 19:17 (TLB)
When you help the poor you are lending to the Lord—and he pays wonderful interest on your loan!

Proverbs 28:27
He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

It takes money to help the poor. God made some radical promises in Isaiah 58 for those who would help the poor, especially those who would help the poor while fasting. He promised to give advancement, success, supply, productivity, and prosperity to those who remember the poor.

9. God wants you to be wealthy in order to bring pleasure to His heart.

Psalms 35:27
Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

We were created to bring pleasure to God (Revelation 4:11). That is our purpose in life. Here in Psalm 35 we are told that the Lord has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant. In other words, it brings pleasure to God when His servants prosper. God knows that wealth will cause you to rejoice and that you will use it for His righteous cause.

10. God wants you to be wealthy to reward you for your productivity and faithfulness in money matters.

Matthew 25:21
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Yes, God is a wonderful Father who rewards us for our faithfulness. There is a story in the Bible about three fellows who were each given a certain amount of money by their master. The two productive men that doubled the money were rewarded. The unproductive man who buried the money to keep it safe, refusing to take a risk, was punished. The master told him that he should have at least put it in the bank to gain some interest. God loves rewarding those who are faithful and productive.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

11. God wants you to be wealthy so you can leave an inheritance.

Proverbs 13:22
A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

It’s no picnic when someone you love dies and leaves you with a pile of bills. God said it is the good man who leaves an inheritance that is big enough to even share with his grandchildren.

12. God wants you to be wealthy in order to work His perfect will in your life.

3 John 2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

One of God’s highest wishes for your life is that you prosper and be in health, just as your soul prospers. God’s desire for your life is not only spiritual and intellectual prosperity, but physical and financial prosperity as well. Jesus became poor so that you could become rich.

2 Corinthians 8:9
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Jesus came to give you an abundant life not a life of lack (John 10:10). When Jesus becomes your Shepherd, you will lack no beneficial thing (Psalm 23:1).

God cares about your needs, your dreams, and your desires. You will begin to prosper and step onto the road to radical wealth when you first begin to believe it is God’s will for you.

These twelve reasons demonstrate God’s will for you to have wealth. God not only wants you to survive. He wants you to thrive! Get my book Radical Wealth for further Study.
