Jesus made an interesting statement in Luke chapter 16, verse 8. He said, “The children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.”

It is true that often the ungodly seem to possess a greater savvy concerning wealth than the children of God. The children of this world usually set monstrous goals, gather all the information they can find, make huge commitments, and walk away with incredible riches, while God’s children sit back and wait for something to happen.

Nothing Is Impossible

When the Tower of Babel was being built, the children of this world had to be stopped. God said, “Nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.” That’s why God was forced to stop them from constructing their devil-honoring tower.

All ungodly wealth-gainers will likewise one day be stopped.

These worldly-minded people used their imaginations. They laid plans, set goals, established unity, and unless God stopped them, He said, nothing would be impossible for them. But you are not ungodly. You are not a child of this world. You are God’s chosen family member. Jesus said, “Nothing shall be impossible unto you.”

Solomon said, “The prudent (wise) man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.”

What is he saying? Simply this: If you are wise, you will seek knowledge concerning a particular subject. The wise person, if he wants to activate his power to get wealth, seeks to uncover knowledge about wealth. The fool says, “Oh, I don’t need any knowledge. If God wants me to be wealthy, He’ll just come down and make me rich.”

The fool expects God to not only give him the power to get wealth but expects God also to do all the work.

Can you imagine a farmer saying, “God has given me seed. If He wants it to be planted, He’ll just come down and plant it?” Or can you picture a farmer saying, “The harvest is now ripe. If God wants me to have it, He’ll come down and harvest it for me.” You would say, “That farmer is crazy.”

Many of God’s children act similarly by saying in either words or attitude, “If God wants me to have a financial harvest, He’ll go out and reap it for me and bring it all into my barns.” That’s as ridiculous as a farmer expecting God to go out and pick the corn after it has grown and matured.

There are many resources that will help you gain practical knowledge concerning finances. Many can point you to the ladder of wealth, but they can’t make you climb it. That’s something you will have to do yourself.

When you start learning about investments, it may seem like a maze at first. It was to me. Month after month, and year after year, it all will become clearer to you as you gain more knowledge. It is exactly like the prophet Isaiah said:

Isaiah 28:9, 10
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
